Fear: Breaking it down and using it to fuel your research
How often have you said, “someday I’m going to own my own business,” but it hasn’t happened yet? You are not alone. Business ownership is one of many dreams people have that remains just that—a dream. There are many reasons conspiring against you. It could be a lack of resources or opportunities or that the timing isn’t right. In a lot of cases, we find that fear is the root cause. (Don’t feel bad—it just means you’re normal)
Instead of letting fear keep you stuck, understand and harness it. Our guest, Mark Holland, is a clinical counsellor with a lot of experience helping people through career transitions. We bring fear out into the open and discuss why people get stuck before starting, spin their wheels in the middle, and get paralyzed at decision time. We explore a lot of different topics, such as:
- Why is transition so hard?
- If we like change so much, why is changing such a struggle?
- Different types of fear and how they manifest in your life
- Considerations for others’ fears (think: spouse & partners)
- How to avoid getting caught in analysis-paralysis
Make your someday finally happen.
